Recognized as one of the world's most prominent and talented designers, Barbara Barry's name and "look" have become part of the popular dialogue. Barry's ability to create beautiful and uncomplicated living environments has earned the praise of her peers and the press making her the most widely published female American designer today.
Since establishing Barbara Barry Incorporated, a full-service residential interior design company, in 1985, industry manufacturers have taken notice of Barry's work and partnered with her to bring her aesthetic to a wider audience. Manufacturers include Baccarat Crystal, Ann Sacks, Baker Furniture, Boyd Lighting, HBF, Kallista and Tufenkian Rugs. Additionally, Haviland Limoges will introduce "Illusion," its first pattern by Barbara Barry in fall 2001. Upcoming collections for McGuire Furniture and Italian luxury bedding manufacturer Bagni Volpi Noemi promise to further Barry's vision of completing the home.
Barry has received numerous awards and honors throughout her 15-year career. She has been inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame by Interior Design magazine and included in Architectural Digest's "AD 100" listing of the world's 100 best designers. Additionally, Barry has received the "Star of Design" for lifetime achievement during Westweek in Los Angeles, "Designer of the Year" from Traditional Home magazine and "Best in Residential Design" from Interiors magazine.
At Barbara Barry Incorporated, Barry oversees a staff of 20 professionals including architects, interior designers, graphic artists and product designers. An integral part of Barry's business is Barbara Barry Home, a private accessories service for clients.
Barry was born in Northern California and studied at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. She resides in Los Angeles but travels extensively to satisfy the increasing demand for her design services and public speeches about design.
